We've discussed the importance of teaching young children and teens the importance of electrical safety, it's just as important for those young adults that are nearing the end of their college years or high school years and embarking out on their own. If your child is getting ready to leave the nest, equip them with appliances that are appropriately marked with the "UL-mark" for electrical safety, an approved fire extinguisher, and the knowledge of electrical safety. It's important that their apartment or dorm has appropriate evacuation procedures, properly maintained smoke alarms, and that fire escape plans are conducted on a regular basis.
